Salaam alaikum guys,

Abdullah, a new grad. student at UF has provided this information.

He lives at Tuscan Bend and has a single bedroom available for rent at Tuscan Bend Apartments. The rent is really low and the internet is included in the rent. He is sharing a room in an apartment that is a two bedroom/bath/kitchen apartment and it is pretty spacious.

Hadith on Repenting

A servant [of Allâh's] committed a sin and said: O Allâh, forgive me my sin. And He (glorified and exalted be He) said: My servant has committed a sin and has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for them. Then he sinned again and said: O Lord, forgive me my sin. And He (glorified and exalted be He) said: My servant has committed a sin and has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for them. Then he sinned again and said: O Lord, forgive me my sin. And He (glorified and exalted be He) said: My servant has committed a sin and has known that he has a Lord who forgives sins and punishes for sins. Do what you wish, for I have forgiven you. O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it. Zubair discussed Surah Baqarah:
The beginning talks about how to be a Muttaqin instead of talking about how the creation of earth and human beings started.

He discussed the story of Prophet Ibrahim and his son Ismail when Allah ordered the slaughtering to Prophet Ismail.

He discussed the weakness of Iman as derived from the story of the Bani Israel and Prophet Musa over the sacrifice of a cow.

Salam,

I have finally compiled the results of the survey. Thank you everyone who participated in the survey.

Participants Total: 16

Tuesday Halaqa: Stays as Is (63% votes), and will be Biweekly during Summer at 8 pm, Inshallah.

Food Preference: 12 wanted PIZZA, and less than 6 for each of the other categories. So pizza will be served at most events.

Halaqa Categories: 13 votes for Brotherhood and Gender Relations where as 12 votes for Fundamentals of Iman. Rest had less than 9 votes each. Thus most topics will be focus on one of the three categories mentioned above.

Location of Halaqa: 9 votes for Brothers' Houses, then 8 for campus, 7 for ICG, and 6 for Hoda Center.

Communication Method: Most popular (easily) – IOC Brothers on Facebook. Thus, all major announcements will be through IOC Brothers group.
However, the website and email listserv on yahoo will be used as regular secondary means.

Mentor Program: Alhamdullillah, there was overwhelming support for the program (over 75%). I will send more information on getting it started in the summer in future messages.

Workshop: 69% of the votes wanted to have career/professional session with CRC. Inshallah, I will try to arrange one in the summer, if not then there will be on in the Fall.

MVM: Surprisingly, there were more volunteers (11) than participants (9) for this event. Since I wanted everyone's involvement and not around 50%, this idea will be scratched for now.

I also received very good comments about future events, here are some that can be implemented :

Moderator can post short notes after every halaqah for brothers that cannot attend. - I will do so through the IOC forum on website.

Posting videos or pictures about halaqah on IOC Brothers will give an idea how Halaqahs are run so far. - We need a cameraman!

“Personally, I would prefer masjid as a place for halaqah. That is the best sunnah. Well, at the early of Islam, prophet pbuh did made halaqah at Arqam abi Al Arqam (?) because they did not have masjid, and the situations are dangerous.” - I personally agree myself, but that is not what the majority wants.

“Halaqah/Usrah discussion may not necessarily be formal and strict. It can be done in many ways as long as there are Naqib (moderater) and participation of all brothers. The objectives for IOC halaqah must be clear.....Brotherhood is a must, it will come by time..... For example, for this summer, we want brothers to understand the pillars in Islam and Iman. or know how to recite Al Fatihah corectly, or everyone knows everyone names and courses. or etc.” and “Online lecture series & discussions... we get together and watch a documentary or Islamic lecture and then talk about the topic and how it applies to us. Profiles of prophets and companions; every week or two we go over the profile of the individual, outline the character and traits, and discuss their importance in Islam and why we should emulate.”” - Good ideas that will be considered

“It also good to make a rules that on everyweek, if each one can give one example or opinion on the issue.” - We will encourage that in Halaqah and also have participation through feedbacks on IOC forum.

“More group sports activities where everyone is invited & encouraged, not small groups--soccer, basketball...” -Need initiative from some brothers to set up time/place and show up regularly.
